Contribution Announcements
  1. If you’ve missed any weekly contributions August, please make those up in September.
  2. If you were on Automatic Deposit for your contributions, you now, starting today, must put a cheque or cash in for your contribution.  Our bank ended that plan on August 31.  You must personally put your contribution into the basket each Sunday from today onward.
  3. For the next two weeks, our benevolent contribution will be sent to HOPEww Disaster Relief to help purchase food packets for the millions suffering from the floods in Pakistan.  Please do NOT use your weekly or SMC funds for Pakistan, as your weekly and SMC contributions are needed here.  Please give to this Relief effort only if you can give above and beyond your weekly and SMC.
  4. Donations to the SMC have really slowed down in August.  Please consider how you can contribute now, or in the very near future, to our Special Ministry Contribution. Even before school starts, the Gollands are having an impact at UBC and beyond!  Let’s make sure they can stay focused on the ministry by giving to the SMC and thus supporting them in their efforts.

Prayer Requests

1.  Our dear sister Urszula is now at home  staying with her daughter in Kitsilano.  She would be delighted to have visitors esp. between 11 am & 1 p.m. when she feels the best and she loves to walk on the beach.  She can be reached by email: uriac@hotmail.com.

2.  Several new families have moved to Vancouver and joined our VCOC family: the Sullivans, the Silvas, the Zirkwitz, the Gollands and the Vasquez.  Make the time to meet them and welcome them to their new home and congregation.

3.  Barish Golland is now serving on the ministry staff of the VCOC.  He official role is “Associate Minister”.  He main focus is to get our campus ministry restarted.  However he will also be personally and consistently involved in building and maintaining our church website and in supporting our music ministry.  He and Ana have had seven years of experience leading the Istanbul church while both of them worked full time in secular jobs.  We are very privileged to have them come and serve with us.

  1. September 30-October 2.  Hurt to Hope (H2H) workshop.  Cost for VCOC members is only $75.  Please contact Brian and/or Sara Felushko for more info or go to http://init4life.ca/hurt-to-hope/registration/ to register for this life changing weekend.
  2. October 23-24.  VCOC 20th Anniversary Weekend.  Saturday evening – Potluck and Party at Bonsor Community Centre.  Sunday morning – Worship Service @ Michael J. Fox Theatre in Burnaby.
  3. November 20.  VCOC Parenting Workshop entitled, “Getting Unstuck”.  Location & Time TBA.
  4. December 12.  VCOC End of Year Banquet.  Location: SFU Alumni Centre.  Cost – $50 per adult.  More details to follow.
